A$AP Rocky flips a high-stakes police pursuit on its head in the official video for “SWAT TEAM,” turning himself from hunted target into the man in control. Co-directed by Rocky and Arnaud Deroudilhe, the cinematic visual follows a tactical unit closing in before the rapper and his crew reverse the situation, giving the track’s title a sharp double meaning.
A$AP Rocky continues to build the visual world of Don’t Be Dumb with “SWAT TEAM,” a video that plays out like a compact action sequence rather than a traditional rap performance clip. From the beginning, Rocky appears to be the target of an escalating operation, with a SWAT unit pursuing him while he remains noticeably calm.
That lack of panic becomes one of the visual’s defining details. While the tactical team closes in, Rocky behaves as if he already knows how the encounter will end. The tension comes less from whether he will escape and more from waiting to see when the balance of power will change.
Eventually it does. Rocky and his crew overpower the officers and take control of the situation, transforming the people doing the hunting into the ones who have been outplayed. The reversal gives “SWAT TEAM” its clearest visual idea and turns what initially looks like a straightforward pursuit into something more mischievous.
Rocky co-directed the video with Arnaud Deroudilhe, with Frenzy Paris handling production and Angelo Marques serving as cinematographer. The full production also includes creative direction by Robert Gallardo, styling from Joshua Jamal and Roxane Noel, and set design by Gael Leroux.
The AWGE identity is visible throughout the clip, while one television broadcast inside the video reports that Rocky is being “hit by SWAT 24/7,” adding another layer of self-aware humor to the pursuit.
Fans who attended recent dates on the Don’t Be Dumb World Tour had already seen a preview of the visual, with Rocky screening footage during shows before unveiling the complete version. That connection between the tour and his videos has helped make the current era feel like one continuous visual project.
“SWAT TEAM” is a bonus track from Don’t Be Dumb and arrives as Rocky prepares Disc 2, an expanded version of the album that will combine revised older material with additional songs. It follows closely behind the surreal “Shroom Clouds” video, another clip co-directed by Rocky.
Where “Shroom Clouds” embraced psychedelic fantasy, “SWAT TEAM” goes for confrontation and controlled chaos. The two videos look very different, but both reinforce Rocky’s increasingly hands-on role in shaping the imagery around his music.
By the end of “SWAT TEAM,” the pursuit has become a power reversal. Rocky never needed to look frightened because the video was never really about escaping — it was about waiting for the moment when the hunted would take control.
