Lady Gaga Returns to Dance-Pop with New Single “Abracadabra”

Lady Gaga has officially returned to the electro-pop sound that made her a global icon, releasing her brand-new dance track, “Abracadabra.”

The pop superstar debuted the song’s stunning music video during a commercial break at the 2025 Grammy Awards on Sunday, February 2.

As always, the visual is packed with drama and tension, featuring Gaga in a bold red latex ensemble and a towering studded hat. The video opens with a powerful declaration:

“The category is dance or die.”

A Return to the Born This Way Era

Sonically, “Abracadabra” recalls the 2011 Born This Way era, marking Gaga’s return to her signature high-energy electro-pop—a sound beloved by her longtime fans.

Speaking about her upcoming album, Mayhem—set for release on March 7—Gaga admitted:

“The album began as a confrontation with my fear of returning to the pop music that my early fans loved.”

The Success of “Die with a Smile” & Bruno Mars Collaboration

Mayhem also features her previous singles, including “Disease” and the Grammy-winning duet with Bruno Mars, “Die with a Smile.”

At this year’s Grammy Awards, “Die with a Smile” won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, prompting an emotional response from Bruno Mars:

"Gaga, I'm honored to be part of this song with you. I truly believe that God gave us this song to sing together—thank you so much."

For her part, Lady Gaga dedicated the award to the transgender community, addressing the ongoing political challenges impacting LGBTQ+ rights in the U.S.:

“Trans people are not invisible. Trans people deserve love. The queer community deserves to be uplifted. Music is love. Thank you.”

Mayhem: An Album of Pure Chaos

In a recent March 2025 interview with ELLE UK, Gaga described Mayhem as an album that “breaks the rules” and embraces total chaos.

“This record just makes me feel good. It defies expectations and carries incredible energy.”

She also revealed that she wrote numerous songs for the album but had to be ruthless in making the final cut, narrowing it down to 14 tracks.

Mayhem is about embracing your personal chaos and following it wherever it leads you in life.”

Lady Gaga’s Triumphant Comeback

With her powerful return to dance-pop and an album that promises innovation and bold experimentation, Lady Gaga is once again ready to dominate the charts—and redefine the genre on her own terms.
