Fireboy DML & Ed Sheeran - Peru

December 29, 2021

Fireboy DML describes his collaboration with Ed Sheeran as a "dream".
Nigerian star Fireboy DML presents a new version of the song "Peru" with the participation of internationally successful singer and songwriter Ed Sheeran.

2021 was a milestone year for Afrobeats but also for African music in general. Songs such as Wizkid and Tems' "Essence" and Ckay's "Love Nwantiti" transcended Nigerian borders and conquered the world, thanks to the incredible power of their original versions and of course the remixes they acquired.

The latest addition to internationally acclaimed African music stars is Fireboy DML, which has a partnership with YBNL / Empire.

Describing how his involvement in this new version of "Peru" came about, Ed Sheeran said that a friend sent him the original song, telling him that Fireboy DML would love to participate in the remix. The British pop star also noted how much he loves the song and admitted that he listens to it over and over again.

Adedamola Adefolahan, also known artistically as Fireboy DML, described as a "dream" his collaboration with Ed Sheeran, who sings in the Yoruba remix of "Peru".

"It was a dream come true that I learned that Ed Sheeran is a fan of my sound and that he was involved in a song that inspired me to travel the world," he said.

"It's not just an exciting time for me, but for Afrobeats as well. "I hope this is the first of many collaborations with Ed and other artists around the world and I look forward to everyone enjoying this song during the holidays."

Last year, Fireboy DML released their revolutionary second album, "Apollo". He then appeared on American television and on Jimmy Fallon's "The Tonight Show" to present a separate medley and collaborated with D Smoke on the single "Champion".

Fireboy DML will embark on its first headlining tour of the United States early next year. The Apollo Tour kicks off Feb. 3 in Providence, Rhode Island, and will continue in major cities before ending Feb. 28 in Seattle, Washington.
