The five-member K-pop girl group NewJeans debuted in July 2022.
NewJeans broke a Guinness record previously held by BTS's Jungkook and BLACKPINK's Lisa.
The five-piece girl group launched HYBE's fledgling ADOR label with their 2022 debut.
While counting only a few months of history, NewJeans broke the Guinness record for the fastest K-pop artist to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify, surpassing the achievements of BTS's Jungkook and BLACKPINK's Lisa.
Jungkook was the last artist to set the record, taking 409 days to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify on March 27, 2023.
Previously, Lisa managed to amass 1 billion streams on the streaming service in 411 days – until October 26, 2022.
In contrast, NewJeans took just 219 days to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify on May 8, 2023.
Currently, only six of the band's songs are available on Spotify: NewJeans' debut EP, which contains four songs and was released last year, and the recent singles 'Ditto' and 'OMG'.
As of May 4, "Ditto" is NewJeans' most popular song on Spotify, with 313.2 million streams, followed by "OMG" with 312.4 million streams. Both songs entered the Billboard Hot 100, with "OMG" completing six consecutive weeks on the chart.

NewJeans released their latest single, 'Zero', a collaboration with Coca-Cola, on April 3rd. The song had amassed 18.07 million streams on Spotify as of May 4.
Following their debut in July 2022, NewJeans are expected to cement their place this summer as one of the most promising acts on the global music scene with a string of major live shows.
In June, NewJeans will perform at HYBE's WeverseCon in Seoul, and in August they will participate in the Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago.
NewJeans will become the first female K-pop name to perform at Lollapalooza.
Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein will follow in the footsteps of Tomorrow X Together, who last year became the first K-pop name to appear at the festival, and BTS's J-Hope, who made it through his participation in Lollapalooza the South Korean artist who headlined a major US music festival.
