Mariah Carey remembers Olivia Newton-John: 'She was one of the kindest, most generous and lovable people'

Mariah Carey recalls the huge impact Olivia Newton-John had on her personally and professionally.
Olivia Newton-John's death at the age of 73 on Monday, August 8 has sent grief to her millions of fans around the world, including Mariah Carey.

Mariah Carey paid tribute to the 'Grease' star in a series of emotional posts on her Twitter page, reminding the public of the huge impact Olivia Newton-John had on her personally and professionally.

"I was blessed to be around her on many other occasions and she was one of the most kind, generous and loving people I have ever met," Mariah Carey wrote in a post that included two earlier photos of her with Olivia Newton-John in same scene.

"We will miss him. We will remember her. We will love her. Olivia, I truly love you,” he added.

Not only did Mariah Carey love Olivia Newton-John's music and movies, she revealed she dressed up as 'Evil Sandy', as Newton-John appeared at the end of 'Grease' wearing only black and jive dancing, for the occasion of Halloween when she was in fifth grade.

"And I thought I was everything," the singer commented.

"Years later, Olivia Newton-John came up on my stage in Melbourne, Australia and we sang 'Hopelessly Devoted To You' together with all our hearts. This is a moment I will never forget," Mariah Carey recalled, posting a photo of them happily holding hands during a concert.

In another tweet, Mariah Carey said she first fell in love with Olivia Newton-John's voice when she was a little girl, listening to her classic songs like 'I Honestly Love You', 'Magic', 'Suddenly' and 'Have You Never Been Mellow", which, as he pointed out, "showcased her beautiful airy timbre and distinctive sound".

"And then "Grease" came along. I was obsessed," Mariah Carey admitted.
