Lil Nas X will be awarded by the Songwriters Hall of Fame

Lil Nas X has already won many awards in the almost four years of his extremely successful career, but next month he will receive a special honor.

The 23-year-old rapper will receive the "Hal David Starlight Award" at this year's Songwriters Hall of Fame, scheduled for June 16 in New York.

The award is given to "gifted young songwriters who have a significant impact on the music industry through their original songs".

Some of the previous winners of the award are Halsey, Ed Sheeran, Nick Jonas, Taylor Swift, Alicia Keys, Drake, John Mayer, Rob Thomas, Johnny Rzeznik of Goo Dolls and Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons.

The award was created in 2004 to preserve the legacy of former Songwriters Hall of Fame president Hal David.

Many members of the current board of the Songwriters Hall of Fame have stated that Lil Nas X will be awarded for the success of his songs and for the pride and sincerity with which he represents the various communities with which he identifies.

Legendary musician and producer Nile Rodgers, president of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, said in a statement: "We are very proud to present the Hal David Starlight Award to someone like Lil Nasx X. great songs are "Old Town Road" and Montero that dominate the charts almost every day for the last three years ".

"If you are lucky enough to live in this age, you know exactly who Lil Nas X is and he is an incredible person who is an inspiration to each of his communities," he continued.

Mariah Carey, Eurythmics, Isley Brothers and The Neptunes will join the Songwriters Hall of Fame this year. Eurythmics, in fact, will join the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in November.

The Songwriters Hall of Fame ceremony was not held again after 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year marks the return of the event.
