Kanye West cancels appearance on "Coachella"

Kanye West's unpredictable behavior in recent months had raised questions from the beginning about the fate of his appearance in "Coachella".
Kanye West canceled his scheduled appearance at the "Coachella" festival.

The news was first broadcast by TMZ and confirmed by a source at Variety. The rapper's representatives have not yet responded to requests for comment.

Kanye West was scheduled to appear on the third and final day of the music festival program on Sunday, April 17th and 24th. The first two days of "Coachella" will be led by Harry Styles and Billie Eilish respectively.

Although there was no specific reason for the cancellation of Kanye West's participation in "Coachella", the news should not be a surprise, as the unpredictable behavior of the 44-year-old rapper in recent months raised questions about his appearance even when it was announced.

"Coachella" had actually taken action, placing the titans of the EDM scene Swedish House Mafia in an unspecified position in the festival program.

Their name was written at the bottom of the poster of the program of this year's event, without specifying which of the three days of the festival they will take part in.

There were rumors that Travis Scott would accompany Kanye West on his appearance at "Coachella", but TMZ reports that the 30-year-old rapper will not participate in the festival.

Travis Scott is keeping a low profile after the deadly tragedy at his own "Astroworld Festival" in Houston, Texas on November 5, 2021, where ten people lost their lives and hundreds were injured.

In February, Kanye West threatened to leave Coachella if Billie Eilish did not apologize to Travis Scott.

Kanye West has appeared in public with exiled personalities such as Marilyn Manson, who has been accused of sexual abuse, and DaBaby, who has provoked strong reactions with his homophobic comments.

While it has not yet been clarified why he left the program of this year's "Coachella", in 2016 Kanye West had canceled the last concerts of his tour in 2016 and a little later he was hospitalized for mental health reasons.

Recent reports have suggested that Kanye West said he was "leaving to ask for help", but a spokesman for Ye described the rumors as "inaccurate".

The "Coachella" of 2022, which is already sold out, will take place at its usual location, at the "Empire Polo Ground" in Indio, California. The festival was not held in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic.
