Britney Spears: 'I bought something on my own for the first time in 15 years'

Britney Spears reveals that during guardianship she was not allowed to do business and never had access to cash or her credit cards.

Britney Spears says it was "very important" for her to buy something on her own for the first time in almost 15 years.

The 40-year-old singer claimed she had "forgotten" how it felt to use her own money to make a purchase after being locked in a legal guardianship that gave her father Jamie Spears the legal right to decide for 13 years all financial, health and and her professional affairs.

Referring to the thrill of the experience, she wrote in an Instagram post: “I had forgotten what it's like to buy something. You would think I was the hardest worker in my family. Christ… I got my first cash withdrawal card exactly one year ago on October 19, 2021. Pretty big deal for me!”

Britney Spears recalled not even knowing her credit card information and "having to step aside" to have someone else complete her purchases because she wasn't allowed to make transactions.

"The significance of the fact that I bought something for the first time in 15 years ... The security held my credit card for 15 years," he revealed.

“When it came time to buy something I always had to step aside and not watch as they typed in the code and wrote my name. They always had a credit card! I had years to get cash…,” he explained.

"I hope only a few can understand how humiliating it was to wait in line with another person always ahead of you pulling you aside and buying things for you," she continued.

“The importance of using your own hands and making the transaction of any purchase speaks volumes as opposed to another person denying me that right for almost 15 years!” she added, referring to Jamie's father.

Britney Spears also decried the legal system's ability to "give away" her assets to other persons.

“How dare a state or a nation grant any man or woman the right to my property in my name? I guess it's not that big of a deal!” he wrote.

In closing, the singer once again claimed that Jamie Spears had targeted her life, without clarifying whether she is speaking literally or figuratively.

“I felt like my father was trying to kill me. I have spoken about it several times, I have evidence and witnesses of what he did..." he said.
