There are multiple artists called Player: (1) A 70s soft Pop/Rock band from L.A (2) A Techno collective from U.K. (3) An alias of Amon Tobin. (4) A Slayer tribute band from the Netherlands.(1) Player began as a chance meeting between Peter Beckett and J.C. Crowley, in 1977. They met by coincidence, both being the only two dressed in jeans and t-shirts, attending an all-white garb party in Hollywood. J.C. came from Galveston Bay, Texas. Oddly enough, they both turned out to be singer/songwriters, and made plans to get together later and jam. In J.C.’s garage, they began working on their new material, adding Ronn Moss(bass) and John Friesen(drums) to the band. Ronn Moss had......
The power of DJ/producer Poirier’s bass will blast through any flimsy attempt to classify his music. While the purists struggle to label his sound as either dancehall, soca, or electro, Poirier, signed to Ninja Tune, just takes what needs from all three and unleashes the result in a raw dance floor frenzy. Poirier’s tracks are sparse landscapes of Caribbean drums made superhuman with pulsating, pitch-shifting, and infectious bass and synth patterns. His style evolves and tears through new genres constantly, leaving a trail of packed, chaotic dance floors in its wake.In the past Poirier collaborated with MC’s and DJ’s from across the globe working with electro sensation......

The Swiss mad beat scientist DJ PulpFusion starts out as a guitar player in a few local bands over 20 years ago. But the love for producing and mixing groove ‘n funk rooted music, make him decide to take the turntable path. This resolves in various international collaborations. In 2007 he decides to come up with the record-label ‘Pig Balls Records’, originally intended to release his own mix of groove,......

From the moment Pavlo was born, June 29, 1969, it seems the stars would line up to fall where he might wish. Pavlo was named after his grandfather. “Pavlo” is the Greek version of the name, “Paul”, and ironically, Pavlo was born on the very day of “St. Paul”. Being of Greek heritage, this was also Pavlo’s “name day”. His family always said he was “lucky”. To make things even more interesting, St. Paul happens to be the patron saint of musicians.Since the time the guitar topped Pavlo’s Christmas wish list at the age of five, he believed he was meant to entertain the entire world. By the age of twelve, Pavlo had composed his first song, and by thirteen, he would throw......
