Whitesnake pulls out of Scorpions tour

Whitesnake had also canceled the rest of their European tour.
Whitesnake have pulled out of Scorpions' North American tour as lead singer David Coverdale "continues treatment for a persistent upper respiratory infection".

The Scorpions will continue with the Swedish Thundermother on the North American leg of their "Rock Believer" tour, which will start on August 21st in Toronto, Canada and end on October 21st in Las Vegas.

On Friday August 5, David Coverdale issued the following statement:

"It is with deep disappointment and a heavy heart that I must announce that Whitesnake will no longer be able to accompany Scorpions on their US and Canadian tour as I continue to receive treatment for a persistent upper respiratory infection that is affecting my ability to sing." .

"This also implies the cancellation of our own concerts. While Whitesnake will not be joining the tour, Scorpions will continue. We wish our good friends the Scorpions every success! I wish you the best," he added.

The Scorpions have released a separate statement confirming Whitesnake's departure from their tour.

"We wanted to let you know that Whitesnake will no longer be joining us on our 'Rock Believer' tour in the US and Canada. Nothing is more important than our fans and it was important to us to keep the concerts as planned," they wrote.

"We wish Whitesnake the best and look forward to seeing and rocking with you on tour with Thundermother," they noted.

On June 28, Whitesnake canceled three dates of their spring/summer European tour because David Coverdale suffered a sinus and windpipe infection.

Three days later, the rest of their tour was cancelled, including the July 9 show at Technopolis in the Municipality of Athens.

At the time, David Coverdale attributed the decision to "ongoing health issues, doctors' orders and our concern for the health and safety of all of us."
