This is the first time a musician has participated in the creation of a Dior collection.
Travis Scott and Dior presented their men's collection for the 2022 spring / summer season with a fashion show that took place in Paris on Friday 25 June.

As announced earlier last week, Travis Scott designed the new collection in collaboration with Dior Artistic Director Kim Jones.

The French luxury fashion house briefly explained the importance of this creative coexistence for the history of Dior.

"This unprecedented event represents the first complete Dior collection created for the house by a musician," the company told WWD.

Travis Scott's collection for Dior also includes a tribute to Pop Smoke with a T-shirt with the photo of the late rapper.

Throughout its 74-year history, Dior has collaborated with musicians such as A $ AP Rocky, who has been involved in its campaigns.

"However, this is the first time he has invited a musician to sit down and participate in the design of a collection," he said.

For Kim Jones, the collaboration with Travis Scott is the continuation of exciting dialogues with a series of pioneering voices of creativity.

Prior to the fashion show, Jones described to "Hypebeast" how the partnership with the rapper came about, revealing that she met him about six years ago and has been in constant contact with him ever since.

"I started talking to Travis about the Foundation he wants to set up to allow students who can't afford to go to Parsons School of Design and make their dreams come true," he explained.

So I thought it would be nice to talk to him and say, 'Why don't we do something together?' Because then you will work with a fashion brand and a haute couture house that can support this project ", he continued.

"It's a great relationship, we're just connecting," Travis Scott told WWD about his collaboration with Kim Jones, who said he "always knows what he wants to do and I do the same."
