The Weeknd To Release New Music From 'The Idol' Every Week

The Weeknd can't contain his excitement.

Even though The Weeknd has officially entered his TV career, he's not slowing down when it comes to music.

On June 4, “The Idol,” the much-talked-about new drama series starring, co-created, and produced by The Weeknd, finally premiered on HBO and Max.

"The Idol" also stars Lily Rose-Depp, BLACKPINK's Jennie, Troye Sivan, Dan Levy, and Moses Sumney, among others, and the show's first season will be accompanied by a full-length album.

Although The Weeknd initially announced that his 'The Idol' soundtrack album would be released on June 30, it seems that he is starting to change his mind.

In an Instagram post, The Weeknd wrote: “I was planning on releasing the entire soundtrack for 'The Idol' until the finale, but I'm so excited. Instead, I want to release new music from the show every week with every episode."

"I'm excited for you to hear what we have in store and all these incredible artists participating in this series," he added.

The Weeknd then took to Twitter to reveal that "two songs" from the show's soundtrack are set to be released this Friday, June 9.

"But yes, the second episode will still be released this Sunday," he clarified.

After enjoying the sound of The Weeknd's voice on the first few songs from 'The Idol' soundtrack, the new singles to follow offer something different.

The first of two new singles is 'The Lure', the opening credits score for the series directed by 'Euphoria' creator Sam Levinson.

The second new song is titled 'World Class Sinner' and is performed by Jocelyn, the fictional pop star played by Lily Rose-Depp on 'The Idol'.

The Weeknd has released two songs from "The Idol" soundtrack in recent months.

In April, he shared his collaboration with Future on "Double Fantasy," which reached No. 18 on the Billboard Hot 100. Last week, The Weeknd released "Popular," on which he teamed up with Madonna and Playboi Carti.

In a recent interview, The Weeknd promised that we're going to hear "more" from Madonna on "The Idol" soundtrack.

The series' soundtrack album also reportedly features a collaboration between The Weeknd and BLACKPINK's Jennie.
