Audiences around the world will be able to watch the much-anticipated landmark Hip Hop 50 Live concert live at New York's Yankee Stadium on hip-hop's 50th birthday, Friday, August 11.
The celebratory concert will be live streamed exclusively from Mass Appeal's YouTube channel. The live broadcast will start at 01:00 on Saturday 12 August Greek time.
Hip Hop 50 Live is headlined by Run DMC performing 'Bottom of the Ninth... The Walk-Off', as well as Nas, Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa and Ice Cube.
The Bronx Bombers section will feature A Boogie wit da Hoodie, Fat Joe, Remy Ma and Kid Capri, while the Queens of Hip Hop section will feature Lil Kim, Trina and other rappers.
Hip Hop 50 Live will also feature T.I., Cam'ron, Common, EPMD, Ghostface Killah, Lupe Fiasco and Slick Rick.
The 'Pillars of Hip Hop' set will feature DJs Kool Herc & Cindy Campbell, Grandmaster Caz, Kurtis Blow, Melle Mel, Roxanne Shante, Scorpio and The SugarHill Gang, while the 'Legendary DJ' set will feature Battlecat, Chuck Chillout, Clark Kent, Drama, Hurricane, Mannie Fresh and Marley Marl.
The Hip Hop 50 Live concert at Yankee Stadium is one of several actions by Mass Appeal's Hip Hop 50 initiative to celebrate the momentous anniversary in the most authentic and global way, recognizing hip-hop not only as a musical genre but also as movement that has influenced the world community.
To celebrate hip-hop's anniversary, Mass Appeal also announced Hip Hop 50 The Soundtrack.
Working with some of the industry's most established producers including DJ Premier, Swizz Beatz, Mustard, The-Dream, Mike Will Made It, No I.D, Hit-Boy, Take A Daytrip and Tainy, Mass Appeal released the soundtrack in a series of 10 EPs featuring all the music that brought together these creative minds that define the landscape of music and culture in celebration of 50 years of hip-hop.
