A total of 1 in 25 vinyl records sold in the US in 2022 were Taylor Swift albums.

Taylor Swift was the queen of vinyl records in 2022, selling the most vinyl records in the US of any artist in 2022: 1.695 million records across her entire discography, according to Luminate's 2022 annual music report.

In fact, he sold more vinyl records last year than the next two best-selling vinyl artists combined: Harry Styles with 719,000 and The Beatles with 553,000.

Taylor Swift's dominance of vinyl sales in 2022 was so strong that nearly 1 in 25 vinyl albums sold last year in the US were Swift albums: 1.695 million of the 43.46 million total vinyl albums sold by all artists.

Taylor Swift's latest album 'Midnights' was the best-selling vinyl album of 2022 in the US, selling 945,000 copies across all variations and editions.

Taylor Swift's 'Midnights' marked the highest annual sales total for a vinyl album since Luminate began tracking sales in 1991. 'Midnights' also had the most sales in one week for a vinyl record in Luminate's history, when it recorded sales of 575,000 vinyl copies in its first week of release.

Taylor Swift has six of the year's 40 highest-selling vinyl albums: 'Midnights' (No. 1, 945,000 sales), 'Folklore' (No. 7, 174,000), 'Red (Taylor's Version)' (No. 11, 153,000), "Evermore" (No. 14, 134,000), "Fearless (Taylor's Version)" (No. 30; , 97,000) and "Lover" (No. 36, 91,000).

Harry Styles and Kendrick Lamar lead the list of artists with the most titles among the top 40 vinyl records of the year, with three albums each.

"Midnights" and Taylor Swift's popular discography helped US vinyl record sales grow for the 17th year in a row in 2022.

It was also the second year in a row, and only the second year since Luminate began tracking music sales in 1991, that vinyl albums outsold CD albums. Vinyl continues to be the top album format for the second year in a row.

Sales of Taylor Swift's vinyl albums, like those of many other artists, have been boosted by the release of a number of alternate editions and color variations.

'Midnights', for example, was available on four standard vinyl LP editions, each with a different cover and colored vinyl (dubbed Moonstone Blue Edition, Jade Green Edition, Mahogany Edition and Blood Moon Edition, respectively). Target stores also carried an exclusive Lavender Edition colored vinyl version.

To further boost sales, Taylor Swift's official online store had signed copies of the four regular vinyl LPs of 'Midnights' available during the pre-order period prior to the album's release.

When the album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, some die-hard Taylor Swift fans may have had the urge to buy all four vinyl versions of "Midnights," as the album covers fit together like a puzzle to form a clock. (literal reference to "Midnights").

Taylor Swift announced the surprise via social media in mid-September, saying: “If you put all the covers together, it becomes a clock. It's a watch... It makes a watch."

The materials to hold the four CDs or four vinyl records to the wall to create the clock as well as a clock mechanism were previously available on the singer's official online store.
