Selena Gomez: The tearful "thank you" to her fans

July 30, 2022

Selena Gomez broke down in tears as she expressed her gratitude to her fans.

In a video posted to her TikTok account, the 30-year-old singer thanked her fans for the wishes they sent her on her recent birthday on July 22.

“I wanted to say a big thank you to every person who wished me a happy birthday,” she said, adding: “I managed to see some of your messages. I don't read a lot of comments, but the few I have read have been very, very sweet, and I want you to know that I don't take that for granted."

Selena Gomez then "thanked everyone who donated — even just a minute — to the Rare Impact Fund," her company, Rare Beauty's, mental health initiative.

"I couldn't be more grateful," she said of her fans' donations to the fund, which aims to raise $100 million over ten years to provide mental health services to under-resourced communities.

Selena Gomez ended her video with a comment about her recent birthday.

"I'm 30 years old! And I'm enjoying it so far," she stressed, before tearing up and saying: "I just wanted to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for being in my life, for growing up with me, for putting up with me. Thank you very much".

The pop star previously uploaded a cute video on TikTok in which she appeared with her best friend, Francia Raisa.

The two friends had fun with the “He’s a 10 but…” challenge, where TikTokers ask their friends what “score” they would give to someone with certain characteristics.

Selena Gomez and Francia Raisa met in 2007 at a children's hospital visit organized by Disney and ABC Family (now Freeform) and have been close friends ever since.

Francia Raisa donated her kidney to Selena Gomez when she needed a transplant in 2017 due to complications from the autoimmune disease lupus erythematosus.
