Queen release new song with Freddie Mercury – Listen to 'Face It Alone'

'Face It Alone' will be included on a compilation reissue of Queen's 'The Miracle' album.

After Brian May and Roger Taylor caused excitement over the summer when they first revealed the news that they were considering releasing a Queen song featuring the voice of their recently discovered Freddie Mercury, the long-awaited lost track 'Face It Alone' has just released today.

The existence of 'Face It Alone' was first revealed by Brian May and Roger Taylor in a BBC radio interview about their performance at this year's Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Concert, which they opened with the permanent their singer Adam Lambert.

Roger Taylor said at the time that "Face It Alone" was "a little gem from Freddie that we'd kind of forgotten about", with Brian May saying "it's beautiful, it's moving".

'Face It Alone' is out now on all digital platforms and you can watch the song's official lyric video below.

The arrival of 'Face It Alone' prefaces the release of a re-release of Queen's 'The Miracle' album, the band's penultimate album released during Freddie Mercury's lifetime.

The album will be released on November 18th in a rich edition called 'Queen The Miracle Collector's Edition', which will contain 8 discs (5 CD, 1 LP vinyl, 1 DVD, 1 Blu-ray).

Among other things, the lavish box set includes 'The Miracle Sessions': a one-hour disc of additional unreleased recordings, including six unreleased songs.

It also features the band's candid studio conversations in London and Montreux, offering the most revealing insight into the four members of Queen's creative process and their joy, banter and teasing.

'Face It Alone' was originally recorded during Queen's historic 1988 recording sessions for 'The Miracle' album, a prolific period in which the band wrote around 30 tracks, many of which were never released.

The song resurfaced when Queen's production and archive team returned to those recordings to prepare the reissue of 'The Miracle'

“We had kind of forgotten about that song, but there it was, this little gem. It's great, a real find. It's a song with a lot of passion," admits Roger Taylor.

'Face It Alone' is the first new Queen song featuring Freddie Mercury in eight years. On the 2014 album 'Queen Forever' the band included three unreleased songs with Freddie Mercury, 'Let Me in Your Heart Again', 'Love Kills' and 'There Must Be More to Life Than This'.

Brian May says of 'Face It Alone': 'I'm delighted that our team was able to come up with this song. After all these years, it's great to hear all four of us, yes Deacy (John Deacon) is there too, working in the studio on a great idea for a song that was never finished... until now!”
