Oasis: 'Be Here Now' 25th Anniversary Edition

The anniversary of 'Be Here Now' will also see the release of unreleased material from the album period.
Sony Music announces the release of a limited edition of Oasis' 'Be Here Now' album to mark the 25th anniversary of its release.

The announcement came on the same day that the album's epic lead single, 'D'You Know What I Mean?', was unveiled 25 years ago.

Special collector's editions of 'Be Here Now' with remastered audio will be released on double silver LP, picture disc and cassette. All of these releases will be available exclusively from Oasis' online store from August 19th, two days before the official release of the reissue.

Also, for the anniversary of 'Be Here Now', unreleased material from the album period will be released and some surprise anniversary activities will be held.

'Be Here Now' was originally released on 21 August 1997 and followed the successful '(What's The Story) Morning Glory?', Oasis' highest selling album and the album that launched them worldwide.

A year earlier, Oasis played in front of over 250,000 spectators over two historic nights at Knebworth, while at least 2.5 million others tried to buy tickets.

After 25 years of the concerts, the documentary 'Oasis Knebworth 1996', directed by Grammy Award nominee Jake Scott, was released last year and went on to become the most successful documentary of 2021 in the UK.

Combined with a live album from these concerts, 'Oasis Knebworth 1996' received excellent reviews worldwide from fans and new fans alike.

By 1997, Oasis had already achieved so much success that they are still considered one of the most important representatives of British culture. The wait for 'Be Here Now' has been unprecedented and without a doubt Oasis have created one of the most anticipated albums since The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.

'Be Here Now' was produced by Owen Morris and Noel Gallagher and the album was recorded at Abbey Road, Ridge Farm, Air, Master Rock and Orinoco Studios from November 1996 to April 1997.

As well as 'D'You Know What I Mean?', the band's third No.1 single, the album includes the nine-minute 'All Around The World', as well as the classic 'Stand By Me', which is one of the most streamed Oasis songs.

The signature elements that make 'Be Here Now' epic come from songs like 'Don't Go Away' and the psychedelic 'Magic Pie'.

'Be Here Now' was released on Thursday 21 August 1997, back when new records were released on Mondays, and sold 400,000 copies on its first day in the UK, surpassing 663,400 sales in just three days. It managed to top the charts in 15 countries and remained at No. 1 in the UK Album Chart for four weeks.

To this day, Oasis remain the only group to have sold the most records in seven days in the history of the UK charts, while 'Be Here Now' has surpassed 8 million records worldwide.

'Be Here Now' remains a standout album in Oasis' discography and 25 years later it continues to be a legendary release that marked an entire era at the peak of the band's career.
