Måneskin are "very proud" of their international success

"It is the first time that an Italian artist has received this recognition."
Måneskin explained how it feels to be at the top of the charts and highlighted how proud they are to be recognized in the US.

Ahead of taking the main stage at Lollapalooza in Chicago to an audience of over 65,000 on Sunday July 31, Damiano David, Victoria De Angelis, Thomas Raggi and Ethan Torchio spoke to NME and said that conquering topping the US charts is 'super cool'.

Måneskin's recent single 'Supermodel' has been the No. 1 song at US alternative radio for two weeks now and remains at the top.

"'Supermodel' was our first worldwide release," said the band's singer, Damiano David.

“It makes us very confident about the future to see such a great reception for our first release. Of course, we didn't expect this, so we're really happy and looking forward to releasing more music as well," he added.

As Måneskin continue to enjoy success in the US, they recently received two nominations for the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards 2022 in the categories of Best New Artist and Best Alternative Video with 'I Wanna Be Your Slave'.

"It's amazing," commented bassist Victoria De Angelis when asked about the nominations the band received.

“I think it's the first time an Italian artist has received this kind of recognition in the US. We are very proud and will work even harder," he continued.

Before heading to the stage, Måneskin were asked to choose their favorite US performance so far.

"That's hard," Damiano David replied.

“For me it's still the Bowery Ballroom in New York. We were coming from huge festivals and then we went to New York for our first show in the US and it was a very small venue with no boundaries between us and the audience,” he said.

"It was really crazy and full of energy, also the fact that it was our first time playing in the US made it a little bit special," he added.

Måneskin are also set to perform at the UK's 'Reading & Leeds Festival' in August, before returning to North America for a new run of concerts starting in October and ending in December.
