Psy revealed that his collaboration with BTS Suga on the single "That That" inspired him to return to the discography after a five-year absence.
In a recent interview with Billboard on the release of his new album "Psy 9th", the singer of "Gangnam Style" said that he spent the last few years leaving aside his own career in music, as he was the head of the entertainment company P Nation and managed its artists.
"In the last two years, I have not spent a single day as an artist. This was a huge difference compared to the last 22 years. "Those were the only two years I never lived as an artist," he said of his shift to a managerial role in the music industry.
But Psy rediscovered his love of music when BTS Suga approached him, wanting to produce a song for him.
"Just before that, I was a perfect manager," Psy recalled. "I really enjoyed being the manager of the company for the last two years, before I met 'That That,'" he added.

"That That" eventually became the central song on the album "Psy 9th".
"He came with the song and suggested it to me. "He wanted to produce the song for me," the 44-year-old artist explained.
Psy also noted that the time he spent working with Suga on "That That" was so enlightening that it inspired him to write another five to six new songs next month.
"This fact gave me impetus, this young (Suga) blood," he admitted.
"We worked together, it was fun and I thought, 'Yeah, that's the music, I've been doing this since I was young.' "When I saw what he was doing, his improvisation and his enthusiasm, he literally stuck with me," he continued.
"Psy 9th" was released on April 29 and marked the end of Psy's five-year absence from music. Apart from Suga, the album features Hwasa by MAMAMOO, Crush, Tablo by Epik High, Heize, Sung Si-kyung and others.
