Duncan Laurence covers "Take My Breath Away" from "Top Gun"

Duncan Laurence decided to compete with one of the most popular songs of the 80's.

The Dutch singer has prepared an adaptation of the classic song "Take My Breath Away" by the new wave band Berlin. The song, co-written by the great Italian composer Georgio Moroder, became famous from the soundtrack of the 1986 film "Top Gun".

Once I heard that there would be a sequel to "Top Gun", I could not stop thinking about "Take My Breath Away". "I have always loved this song," comments Duncan Laurence.

"As I prepare to open another chapter in my music this summer, I'm glad I was able to give this classic song my own style. "I hope you like it!" He adds.

Hailing from the small Dutch town of Spijkenisse, Duncan Laurence is making a splash in the music scene with his candid, unadulterated lyrics and captivating melodies.

Duncan became famous with his victory in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2019 with the platinum single "Arcade", which currently has over one billion streams.

Now, he adds to his impressive list of songs a cover of the pop and movie hit "Take My Breath Away", while remaining 100% true.

The original song "Take My Breath Away" was created by Giorgio Moroder and Tom Whitlock. The song, performed by the American band Berlin, was written for the iconic 1986 film "Top Gun".

"Take My Breath Away" won an Oscar and a Golden Globe and, of course, was a worldwide success, climbing to the Top 3 of the charts in the United States, United Kingdom, East Germany, Canada, the Netherlands, France, Belgium, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and many other countries.

"Take My Breath Away" is a solo release by Duncan Laurence as he prepares to release a new single and his next album soon.
