Doja Cat has confirmed that it will accompany The Weeknd on his upcoming North American tour, despite reiterating her intention to retire from music.
The Weeknd is set to launch the "After Hours Til Dawn" tour in July to promote his last two albums, "Dawn FM" (2022) and "After Hours" (2020). Doja Cat will accompany him to the concerts. The two artists have collaborated on a remix of The Weeknd's "In Your Eyes" and the song "You Right" from Doja Cat's "Planet Her" album.
Last week, however, Doja Cat claimed that she would retire from music after a dispute with her fans on Twitter.
She later apologized and withdrew her statement, but then reiterated her original intention to give up music. In response to a post on a website titled "Okay, maybe Doja Cat will not retire", he replied on Twitter: "Yes, I will retire".
Doja Cat made another announcement via Twitter for those who were not sure if she would accompany The Weeknd on "After Hours Til Dawn" and assured that "she will not leave" the tour.
"But just because I'm not leaving does not mean I're not going to disappear right away," Doja Cat said. "There are still things I have to do. "And many of you think that just because I posted a photo means I will not retire."
In a subsequent post, the 26-year-old rapper and singer clarified that "he has not retired yet" and explained: "I have videos to shoot, I have appearances to make and I have content to release".
Doja Cat is currently on tour in South America and was scheduled to appear at the Asunciónico Festival in Paraguay on Tuesday 22 March.
After the cancellation of the first day of the festival - in which the Doja Cat was to appear - due to adverse weather conditions, her fans expressed their disappointment that she did not meet them outside her hotel.
After a confrontation, Doja Cat wrote on Twitter: "She is leaving and I am no longer interested. I give up, I can not wait to disappear and I do not need you anymore to believe in me. Everything is dead to me, the music is dead and I'm a fool to think I was made for it. "It's a nightmare."
Doja Cat explained in an interview in November 2021 that she "feels pressured to do things she does not want to do" as part of her career in the music industry.
