Spice Girls invited to sing at Queen Elizabeth's platinum jubilee

The Spice Girls were invited to perform at Queen Elizabeth's platinum jubilee concert.

A huge concert will be held to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth's reign and Emma Bunton, Geri Horner, Mel B, Melanie C and Victoria Beckham have been invited to attend the event.

A source told The Sun's "Bizarre" column: "The BBC executives are determined to put on a show that will never be forgotten and which band is more iconic than the Spice Girls?"

"The invitation has been made and is now in the hands of the girls," the source revealed.

"It is no secret that they regretted rejecting such an opportunity for the Diamond Jubilee and all of them have deep respect for the Royal Family and the Queen," he added.

The last time the five members of the Spice Girls appeared together was at the closing ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics.

In 2019, the Spice Girls reunited, without Victoria Beckham, for a festive tour of the United Kingdom.

Celebrating Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee, events and initiatives will be held throughout the year, culminating in the proclamation of a four-day holiday in the United Kingdom from Thursday 2 to Sunday 5 June.

"The holiday will give communities and people across the UK the opportunity to come together to celebrate the historic landmark," according to the official website of the British Royal Family.

The four-day celebrations will include public events and community activities, as well as national moments of account for Elizabeth's 70 years on the royal throne.

The BBC will host and broadcast a special live concert from Buckingham Palace featuring some of the world's biggest stars to "celebrate the most important and joyful moments of the Queen's seven decades of rule".
