Olivia Rodrigo joins forces with Disney + for the release of a new documentary entitled "Olivia Rodrigo: driving home 2 u (a Sour film)".
The film will chronicle Olivia Rodrigo's car journey from Salt Lake City, where she began writing her triple platinum debut album, "Sour", to Los Angeles.
Along the way, Olivia Rodrigo will narrate her memories from the creation and recording of her first album and will share the feelings experienced by a young woman who is going through a specific period of her life.
The title of "Olivia Rodrigo: driving home 2 u (a Sour film)" is a reference to the song with which it all started, the four-time platinum "Driving License", while also reflecting the form of the documentary.
The film will include new live covers of Olivia Rodrigo's songs at locations such as "Mojave Airplane Boneyard", "Roy's Motel & Café", "Arcosanti" and "Red Rock Canyon State Park", as well as interviews and material from creating the album that has never seen the light of day.
In the musical part of the documentary they will appear as guest artists such as Jacob Collier, Blu DeTiger and Towa Bird.
"This is a unique cinematic experience where for the first time fans will understand how her album was created and why it was such a personal journey for Olivia," said Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television.
"It's not a concert film in itself, but really, an opportunity to experience first hand how Olivia Rodrigo became one of the biggest music stars of our time and an opportunity to see her perform Sour songs like never before. ", He added.
"Driving home 2 u (a SOUR film)", directed by Stacey Lee and produced by Interscope Films and the Supper Club, will premiere at Disney + on March 25.
The documentary will be released a week before the 2022 Grammy Awards, where Olivia Rodrigo is vying for seven awards, including Song of the Year, Recording of the Year, Album of the Year and Best New Artist.
On April 5, Olivia Rodrigo will embark on her first world tour, the "Sour Tour", during which she will perform 48 sold-out concerts in North America and Europe.
