Kendrick Lamar is making his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a brand-new track for Captain America: Brave New World, set to premiere tomorrow, February 14.
Anthony Mackie Reveals the Big News
The announcement came from Anthony Mackie, the actor portraying the new Captain America. In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, he excitedly shared:
"Kendrick wrote the main song for my movie. I hope it wasn't a secret! I'm the first to reveal it here. I'm excited—this man is a true master of his craft."
Lamar’s History with Marvel
Lamar previously collaborated with Marvel in 2018 when he produced the critically acclaimed soundtrack for Black Panther. The album included chart-topping hits like All The Stars featuring SZA and Pray For Me featuring The Weeknd.
While no official release date for his new song has been confirmed, it is expected to drop alongside the film’s premiere. This track will also mark Lamar’s first new music of 2025, following the surprise release of GNX’s sixth album in November.
Grammy Wins and Super Bowl Triumph
Lamar is in the midst of one of the most prolific periods of his career. At the 2025 Grammys, he took home five awards, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year for his explosive Drake diss track, Not Like Us.
His recent Super Bowl Halftime Show also made history, becoming the most-watched halftime performance of all time. According to NME, his set—which included an unreleased song—was ranked the third-best Super Bowl Halftime Show ever.
Collaborations and Streaming Surge
Following their Super Bowl collaboration, Lamar and SZA announced a joint tour across Europe and the UK. Meanwhile, Not Like Us saw a staggering 430% increase in streams after its release.
Early Reviews for Captain America: Brave New World
As the film’s release nears, early reviews have started rolling in. While Anthony Mackie’s portrayal of Sam Wilson as the new Captain America has received widespread praise, some critics feel the storyline lacks the impact needed to match the film’s high expectations.
In the movie, Sam Wilson is thrust into the heart of an international crisis, where he crosses paths with President Thaddeus Ross (played by Harrison Ford), who ultimately transforms into the formidable Red Hulk.
With Kendrick Lamar’s return to Marvel and his music continuing to dominate, fans of both hip-hop and the MCU eagerly await his latest masterpiece.
