Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, recently visited Southport to honor the victims of the Taylor Swift-themed dance class stabbing. The tragic incident, which took place on July 29, resulted in the deaths of three children and left ten others injured during a school holiday yoga and dance session.
During their visit, William and Catherine met with first responders, including firefighters, police, ambulance, and air ambulance crews at the Southport Community Centre. They discussed how the attack affected the mental health of those involved in the emergency response and spoke with mental health professionals providing support to the responders.
The royal couple also privately met with the families of the three children who lost their lives and the dance teacher who was present during the attack. Their visit coincided with World Mental Health Day, and following their time in Southport, they shared a heartfelt message on Instagram.
"Thank you to the people of Southport for sharing your experiences and honoring the young lives lost," their statement read. "In the face of tragedy, this community’s strength and resilience has been a powerful reminder of the bonds that unite us. As the healing continues, take comfort in the incredible support around you. Every shared memory, act of kindness, and moment of unity brings hope for the future and ensures that those lost are never forgotten."
