Ed Sheeran did not reveal details about the problems he faced.
Ed Sheeran has made his big return to social media after deleting all content from his Instagram account and taking a hiatus from the app in November.
On the occasion of his comeback, the singer explained why he needed a fresh start.
"Hey guys, I realize I haven't been that engaged with my social media or my online fans in the last couple of years," Ed Sheeran confessed in the video he posted.
“And the stuff posted on that account might have gotten a little boring. And I'm sorry, it's my fault," he continued.
"Um, the reason I'm making this video is, to be completely honest, I've had some tumultuous things going on in my personal life, so I didn't feel like being online and pretending to be something I'm not when I didn't feel like it ", explained.
After revealing that "things are looking up", Ed Sheeran promised his fans that he is now "back online" and that "weird things will start to be posted" on his Instagram account.
"I've done this video like 50 damn times, I'm not going to do it again," he then joked before ending the video
Ed Sheeran captioned the mysterious post: "Back to work."
As well as Instagram, Ed Sheeran has chosen not to use Twitter either, leaving his account on the app - which goes by the name 'Ed Sheeran HQ' - in the hands of his team.
Late last year, Ed Sheeran briefly returned to Instagram to celebrate his hit 'Shivers' hitting the one billion stream mark on Spotify.
In a video he posted at the time he revealed he was in a windy, outdoor setting for a music video for his next album after 2021's '=' (Equals), which is expected to be released sometime this year.
Ed Sheeran is putting the finishing touches on his new album, rumored to be titled 'Minus' (-) and is gearing up for his North American tour, which kicks off in May.
