Ed Sheeran returned to his old school to give the best surprise to the students and help present their accolades
The East Anglian Daily Times reports that Ed Sheeran, who was a student at Thomas Mills High School in Framlingham, England, pleasantly surprised the students at the annual praise night.
Ed Sheeran gave a speech and also helped present the accolades, shaking the hands of the deserving students.
As for why the singer appeared at the ceremony, Professor Adam Chittock commented: "I think he just wanted to do it."
“It's like any student who goes back to his old school, he liked seeing his old teachers and familiar faces. It's just that this former student is an internationally renowned music star," he explained.
The school's headteacher, Philip Hurst, also told the paper: “We were delighted that Ed was able to attend our awards night and take time out of his busy schedule. He was a great guest with a real love for the school and what it aims to achieve."
"Although we were all a bit impressed in front of him, he is very simple and made people feel comfortable," he stressed.
“He is a great role model for our students and with his speech he encouraged them to pursue careers in what they love to do, whatever that field may be,” he continued.
Hurst reported that during his speech, Ed Sheeran told the students to "do what you love to do and try hard in school because that gives you such a good habit for the future."
Student Tom Turner said it was "amazing" to receive his praise from the singer.
"It was such a surreal experience to have the world's number one music artist on stage in front of you," added the Framlingham frontman Ikarus.
