Lady Gaga 'very suitable choice for 'Joker 2'

"We hope to find the magic every day on set," said the film's director of photography.
Lady Gaga is set to star in the 'Joker' sequel, which will be titled 'Joker: Folie à Deux', and the film's cinematographer Lawrence Sher is already praising the singer.

While we know that Lady Gaga will be starring in the film, the role she will be playing has not been officially confirmed yet. She is rumored to be appearing as the villainous Harley Quinn alongside Joaquin Phoenix's Joker.

Speaking on The Hollywood Reporter's "Behind the Screen" podcast, Lawrence Sher talked about what's to come in the highly anticipated "Joker" sequel and, more importantly, how Lady Gaga fits into the film.

"It's just a very fitting choice for this film and will create a similar magic that Joaquin himself brought," he said.

"I think the combination of the two of them is going to be exactly what we're hoping for, which is exciting and we're going to find the magic every day on set," he added.

“Hopefully we'll have some craziness in there as well. So we like it when there's a bit of chaos. So we hope he brings the necessary chaos that Joaquin brought in the first film," he said.

Although Lawrence Sher, who also worked on the first Joker film (2019), did not want to share much information about Lady Gaga's involvement in the film, he said that he is "very excited" to work with her.

The "Joker: Folie à Deux" cinematographer also noted that he has admired Lady Gaga for years.

"I really believe in her as an artist... I really believe in her as an actress," he commented, adding that he was moved by her appearance in the film "House Of Gucci" as the "black widow" Patrizia Reggiani.

Lawrence Sher also revealed that the filming of "Joker: Folie à Deux" will begin in "about five to six weeks" and mentioned that they are in the "final stages of preparation."

Joker: Folie à Deux, directed and written by Todd Phillips, is slated to hit theaters in October 2024.
