Harry Styles on his film career: 'I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing'

Harry Styles may be starring in one of the most anticipated films of the Venice Film Festival, but he still considers himself a novice in the world of acting.

“I've been doing music a little longer, so I'm a little more comfortable. What I love about acting is that I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing," she said at a press conference at the Venice Film Festival ahead of the premiere of her starring role in Don't Worry Darling.

Harry Styles has stated that he considers music and acting to be "opposites in many ways".

"Making music is a very personal thing. There are aspects of acting where you draw a little from experiences, but for the most part you're pretending to be someone else. That's the most interesting thing about it,” he said.

“They can help each other in a way. Every time you have the opportunity to see the world through a different lens, it can help you create whatever direction it takes. I find it really different. I think the fun thing is that you never know what you're doing," he added.

Harry Styles was joined by his co-stars Gemma Chan and Chris Pine, as well as the film's director and partner Olivia Wilde. His co-star Florence Pugh, who is said to have fallen out with Olivia Wilde, was noticeably absent.

Harry Styles took the most questions at the press conference, with international journalists eager to hear about his Hollywood ambitions.

“It's fun to play in worlds that aren't necessarily yours. This world (of "Don't Worry Darling") is supposed to be so perfect - it was fun to act in it. It's like driving fun cars, lots of fun stuff too. We were lucky that this world was built so well around us that we could actually play instead of pretending everything was cool,” he explained.

Harry Styles later stated that he hopes audiences will become more aware of their "own protective bubbles" after watching the film.

“What we hope people take away from the film is – what does it take for someone to give up in order to do the right thing and get out of their bubble? All of us can sit in a really comfortable life and ignore the consequences of what's going on in the world. But we cannot deny that these consequences exist," he commented.

When asked how he envisions his future as an actor, Harry Styles replied: "I feel very lucky to be able to do something I love as a job."

“I feel like being able to explore that has made me feel even more fortunate to be able to do two things that I really enjoy. As for the future… I enjoy both. It's fun to play in both worlds and see how they affect each other," he continued.

Harry Styles has been involved in a supporting role in Christopher Nolan's 2017 film Dunkirk and appeared this year at the end of Marvel's Eternals as Eros or Starfox.

While rumored to be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Harry Styles is also starring in Amazon Prime Video's My Policeman, which will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival next week.

Harry Styles will travel to Toronto, where he and his co-stars will receive the TIFF Tribute Actor Award.

The film "Don't Worry Darling" premiered at the Venice Film Festival on September 5th and will be released in Greek cinemas on September 22nd.
