Mariah Carey announces upcoming album

Mariah Carey has announced that a new album is in the works.

The 55-year-old music icon, whose last studio release was 2018’s Caution, revealed she’s actively writing songs but hasn’t set a timeline for when fans can expect to hear her latest creations.

When asked about her future plans, she recently shared with Best magazine: “There’s so much I want to do, and I’m keeping busy. I’m writing new material, so a new album is definitely on the horizon, though I don’t know when it will be released. For now, I’m enjoying the process of songwriting.”

This year also marks the 20th anniversary of her celebrated album The Emancipation of Mimi, a milestone Mariah takes great pride in. She reflected: “I’m really proud of The Emancipation of Mimi. It was a bit of a comeback album for me and remains one of my favorites. Celebrating and performing some of those songs this year has been very special.”

Additionally, the ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ superstar is thrilled about her Merry Christmas album reaching its 30th anniversary in 2024.

When asked about the milestone, she said: “It doesn’t feel like it’s been that long. I tend to avoid focusing on numbers like that, but the 30th anniversary of the Merry Christmas album is something I’m really excited about. It’s heartwarming to know people still love it.”

Mariah also shared that her festive listening isn’t limited to her own music. She confessed: “I have a whole Christmas playlist that I adore. Nat King Cole’s ‘The Christmas Song’ and Donny Hathaway’s ‘This Christmas’ are among my favorites.”
