Lola Young breaks down on stage: When everything goes wrong at Wembley

It was supposed to be a dream moment — but June 15 at Wembley turned into a tough chapter in Lola Young’s journey. During her set at Capital’s Summertime Ball, the 24-year-old artist broke down in tears after her in-ear monitor failed mid-performance, leaving her disoriented and unable to hear herself on stage.

A now-viral TikTok video captured the heartbreaking moment: visibly shaken, Lola stepped away from the mic, covering her face as a team member rushed to support her.

While performing her song “Messy,” she addressed the crowd with honesty and a dose of humor: “Sorry guys, my ears are cutting out,” she said, quickly adding, “Can someone get me a new pair of ears?”

She tried to push through, but without audio cues, syncing with her band proved impossible. Instead, she turned to the audience and invited them to sing along. When the song ended, Lola exited the stage — emotionally overwhelmed, but still applauded for her bravery.

Just months ago, she opened up about her anxiety-ridden debut at Coachella, where she revealed she spent the entire set battling intense nerves and near heatstroke. In a self-deprecating Instagram clip, she joked, “Not me doing my first Coachella and throwing up the whole time.” The video even showed her off-stage asking for a bucket before confidently returning, declaring, “And now I’m back… dancing through the mess!”

Through it all, Lola remains candid and resilient. On June 18, she officially announced her debut album I’m Only F—— Myself, out September 19 — a deeply personal project she describes as “a letter to the self-sabotaging part of me… my way of holding on before I fall.”

She’s also set to kick off her first North American tour in November.

Despite the chaos, Lola Young isn’t backing down. Raw, relatable, and utterly human — she’s writing her story in real time, and fans are here for every chapter.
