Listen to Aaliyah and The Weeknd in the new single "Poison"

Twenty years after her death, Aaliyah remains more iconic than ever.

After her list was released on streaming services for the first time earlier this year, the voice of the beloved R&B singer meets the voice of The Weeknd in the posthumous single "Poison".

This is the first release from Aaliyah's new album which is in the process of production and will feature contributions from other artists.

Aaliyah's uncle and Blackground Records founder Barry Hankerson recently announced plans to release a new Aaliyah album featuring artists such as Drake, Future, Ne-Yo, Chris Brown, Snoop Dogg and Timbaland.

The Weeknd had used Aaliyah's "Rock The Boat" in "What You Need" from the 2011 mixtape "House Of Balloons".

"Poison" bears the signatures of Aaliyah's longtime collaborator and friend Static Major and The Weeknd. Produced by DannyBoyStyles and Nick Lamb, mixed by Mike Dean and produced by Shin Kamiyama.

"I'm so excited to share this new song from Aaliyah and the very talented The Weeknd," said Barry Hankerson.

"I wanted her fans to get a special gift before the holidays and I thought it was the perfect time to release an unprecedented offer. "Be sure to add 'Poison' to all of your favorite Aaliyah playlists," he added.

Aaliyah died in a plane crash on August 25, 2001 at the age of 22.

It is believed that she contributed to the redefinition of modern R&B, pop and hip hop, a fact that earned her the nicknames "the princess of R&B" and "the queen of Urban Pop".
