LISA’s first full-length album, Alter Ego, has made a powerful entry onto the music charts, debuting at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Album Sales chart for the week ending March 15. According to Luminate, the album sold an impressive 28,000 copies in the U.S. during its first week, ending March 6.
This milestone makes LISA the second BLACKPINK member to achieve a No. 1 album as a solo artist. Previously, ROSÉ topped the chart with Red on December 21, 2024. As a group, BLACKPINK has also enjoyed remarkable success, landing three albums in the top 10, including two chart-toppers: The Album (2020) and BORN PINK (2022).
The Billboard Top Album Sales chart ranks albums based solely on physical sales, a system that has been in place since May 25, 1991, when SoundScan (now Luminate) began tracking sales electronically. Until December 6, 2014, the Billboard 200 was also based exclusively on physical sales before incorporating track-equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming-equivalent albums (SEA).
LISA’s Alter Ego launch was accompanied by a show-stopping performance at the Academy Awards on March 2, where she participated in a tribute to the music of James Bond films, performing Wings' classic Live and Let Die. Adding to her achievements, she also made her acting debut in HBO’s The White Lotus Season 3, which premiered on February 16.
To cater to her diverse fanbase, Alter Ego was released in multiple editions. The standard edition features 12 songs and is available in digital, CD, and vinyl formats. A 15-track digital edition includes three additional songs, while a 19-track special edition—offered exclusively through her official online store—contains three remixes and a recorded message from LISA. Fans could also choose from nine CD editions, including a signed version with collectible inserts, six deluxe box sets (which included branded clothing), and two vinyl editions, one of which was autographed.
In the latest Billboard Top Album Sales rankings, Alter Ego is the only new entry in the top 10. Meanwhile, anticipation is building for another BLACKPINK member’s solo success—JENNIE’s album Ruby, released on March 7, is expected to make its chart debut next week, on March 22.
