Lil Nas X commented on the fact that he expressed his sexual preferences while the success of "Old Town Road" conquered the top of the charts and defended his sexuality.

The 22-year-old artist revealed that he is gay in June 2019 and then admitted in an interview that LOATKI + people "are not really accepted" either in country music or in the rap community.

In a new interview on CBS's "Sunday Morning" show, Lil Nas X stated that he decided to reveal his sexual identity when people 's attention was focused on him because of "Old Town Road", because "it would be the most true moment ".

"I did not do it to attract attention. "I was already the number one artist in the world at the time," he explained.

Asked if he was worried about being able to show his true self in public, he replied: "There was definitely some fear. There will always be fear when you do something that literally changes your life. "But you just have to do it."

Lil Nas X argued that the music industry wants to standardize gay artists.

"I feel like I'm definitely a lot more 'out there' than that. It always said, "Okay, if you're gay, we have to sterilize this. "Let's not include anything sexual." It's like saying, "Be gay without being gay." "We do not want to know what is going on behind closed doors, or we do not want you to reveal this," he described.

"I say I will do this if I want to. "And I want every other artist to feel the same," he added.
