Lady Gaga has teased the possibility of a sequel to her iconic Telephone music video featuring Beyoncé.
Released in 2010 and directed by Jonas Åkerlund, the video ends with the two stars driving through the desert as police sirens wail in the background. The final scene includes the phrase “To be continued…”, sparking years of speculation about a follow-up.
A Sequel in the Works?
In a recent Vanity Fair interview for the Lie Detector Test series, Gaga confirmed that a sequel is in development.
“At the end of the video for the song Telephone, the phrase 'To be continued…' appears. Will there ever be a sequel?” the interviewer asked. The pop star smiled and responded, “Yes.”
However, Gaga admitted she doesn’t know when the project will be released.
When shown a photo of Beyoncé and asked if she would be involved, the 38-year-old mysteriously replied, “Perhaps.”
Not Just a Scheduling Issue
Gaga insisted that delays in the Telephone sequel are not due to scheduling conflicts. However, she did not confirm whether the collaboration would be featured on her upcoming eighth album, Mayhem.
During the lie detector test, she was also asked if she would consider changing her stage name.
“I think so, because I did it, right?” she laughed, referring to her real name, Stefani Germanotta.
The Die with a Smile singer clarified that she has no strict rules about who can call her Stephanie.
“I let a lot of people call me Stephanie. It’s not really a rule,” she added.
Mayhem Set for Release
Gaga’s new album, Mayhem, is expected to be released on March 7.
