Lady Gaga does the "cool" kindness with a new online lesson

Lady Gaga launches an online course that will teach people how to help themselves and others with confidence, security and kindness.
Lady Gaga wants to "cool" the goodness with a new program that aims to help young people with their mental health.

The singer's Born This Way Foundation is partnering with Jack.org, a Canadian mental health charity, to launch a free online course to help young people find safe ways to support each other in their mental health.

The non-profit "Be There Certificate" program aims to help young people "learn how to be present for themselves and others with confidence, security and kindness."

"Every day I hear young people around the world need the validation, confirmation and support of the Be There Certificate," Lady Gaga told People.

"It means everything to me that I share this tool with each of these young people and the world and I share it to remind myself and everyone else that each of us has a role to play in order to be "there for each other," he continued.

"With the Be There Certificate and thanks to the work of the Born This Way Foundation and Jack.org, you can learn how to support yourself and others with confidence, security and kindness," he said.

"You may find it scary to start a mental health discussion with someone else and offer your support. "With the 'Be There Certificate' you learn how to really be, with kindness and security there for someone, while maintaining your own mental well-being", he explained.

Lady Gaga's mother, Cynthia Germanotta, who is the co-founder and president of the Born This Way Foundation, added: stigma surrounding mental health ".

"The Be There Certificate is an important and much-needed mental health resource that young people everywhere can use to safely support their peers in building a more benevolent and courageous world," he added.

The new, free online mental health course, available in English, French and Spanish at betherecertificate.org, "is designed to enhance mental health education and reach out to young people - and anyone else. "The knowledge, skills and confidence they need to safely support their peers who may be struggling with their mental health," the Born This Way Foundation said in a statement.

The course teaches people how to recognize when someone may have a problem, understand their role in supporting that person and learn how to connect with the help they need, the statement added.

"As the debate over mental health in North America grows, so does the number of young people who have mental health problems and see those around them struggling," said Shane Green, Vice President of Programs at Jack.org.

"They often wonder what they can do about it and often meet friends and relatives who do not have the necessary supplies to support them. "That's why we created the 'Be There Certificate', to give young people the best supplies to safely support their peers and loved ones," he continued.

Lady Gaga also celebrated the launch of "Be There Certificate" by posting a video on social media listing the "five golden rules for how to be safe with someone".

"Number one, say what you see. Number two, show that you care. Number three, listen to them. Number four, know your role. "Number five, contact us to help, kindly and safely," he said.

Founded by Lady Gaga and Cynthia's mother, the Born This Way Foundation provides support for young people's mental health and promotes integration through high-impact programs, discussions led by young people and strategic partnerships. This year the organization celebrates its tenth anniversary since its founding in 2012.
