Kendrick Lamar’s Luther breaks records and dominates the charts

Kendrick Lamar, in collaboration with SZA, continues to make history with their smash hit Luther, which holds the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for the fourth consecutive week. The track, a tribute to legendary R&B singer Luther Vandross, debuted at No. 1, marking Lamar’s sixth chart-topping hit and SZA’s third.

A Record-Breaking Run for Kendrick Lamar

With Luther, Lamar now holds the record for his longest-running No. 1 hit. Previously, his singles “Not Like Us” and “Like That” each topped the Hot 100 for three weeks. Other chart-toppers in his career include “Squabble Up” (December 2024), “HUMBLE.” (2017), and his feature on Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” (2015).

Additionally, Lamar ties Drake with an impressive feat—spending six weeks with three songs simultaneously in the Top 5 of the Hot 100. The only artist to surpass this achievement is The Beatles.

SZA’s Biggest Chart-Topping Hit

For SZA, Luther marks the biggest No. 1 single of her career. Previously, her hits “Slime You Out” (with Drake) and “Kill Bill” had each spent a single week at No. 1.

Luther continues to dominate across multiple platforms:

  • Radio airplay: 55.6 million listeners (+3%)

  • Sales: 3,000 copies sold (-24%)

The song holds its No. 1 position on Streaming Songs for the fourth week, rises to No. 2 on Radio Songs, and drops from No. 8 to No. 17 on Digital Song Sales.

  • New entry to the Top 10 on Pop Airplay (No. 8), marking SZA’s seventh Top 10 and Lamar’s fifth
