John Legend: 'A lot of people are worried about Kanye West'

John Legend believes Kanye West's change in behavior is due to his mother's death.

John Legend says 'a lot of people are worried' about Kanye West.

The singer has had a long-term relationship with the rapper since they both debuted in 2004, but admitted they have lost touch in recent years and fears Kanye West may have changed as he struggles to get over his mother's death Donda West in 2007.

When asked about Kanye West on New York Magazine's "On with Kara Swisher" podcast, John Legend said, "I think he's different than he was back then."

"I didn't see any intimations of this kind of dangerous behavior at the time," he added, referring to Kanye West's ongoing anti-Semitic and anti-Semitic comments that caused the collapse of his business empire.

"I think people's lives change, and I think his mother's death probably had something to do with that," John Legend noted.

"I don't want to play it couch potato, but he's certainly changed, and a lot of us who have known him over the years are really concerned about that," he said.

John Legend also mentioned that he hasn't tried to contact Kanye West recently, but he said he knows there are a lot of people who are "concerned" about the rapper.

“Well, I know people in his life who contacted him, but we've lost touch. We haven't been friends for quite some time so I don't personally do anything, but I know people who do and a lot of people are worried about him," she said.

Following the interview, John Legend condemned Kanye West's anti-Semitic comments that sparked a backlash, but insisted there should always be "room for forgiveness".

“I believe that he who forgives must forgive, you understand? It's best for you, the person who feels hurt, to be able to forgive," she said.

“Because if you can't do that, it's a burden on your life. And so I believe in forgiveness in general. That's not to say that people shouldn't face consequences for what they do wrong, but I also believe in forgiveness," John Legend explained.
