Harry Styles 'heartbroken' over the passing of Liam Payne

Harry Styles has expressed his deep sorrow over the passing of former One Direction bandmate, Liam Payne.

The "Watermelon Sugar" singer shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, following a joint statement released earlier by One Direction.

"I am deeply heartbroken over Liam's passing," Harry, 30, wrote. "He found true happiness in bringing joy to others, and it was a privilege to be by his side as he did so. Liam was open-hearted, lived life with passion, and his energy was contagious. He was kind, supportive, and incredibly loving. The time we spent together will always be among the most treasured moments of my life. I will miss him dearly, my beloved friend."

He concluded his tribute by saying, "My heart goes out to Karen, Geoff, Nicola, Ruth, his son Bear, and everyone who knew and loved him as much as I did."

Earlier, the official One Direction account had posted a joint statement, expressing that they were "utterly devastated" by the tragic news of Liam's death. They added, "In time, when we are able, we will have more to say. But for now, we will take time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, whom we loved so much."

Liam's family also released a statement following his death, saying, "We will always remember him for his kind, funny, and courageous spirit. We are supporting one another as best as we can and kindly ask for privacy during this difficult time."

Liam tragically passed away on Wednesday after falling three stories from his hotel room in Buenos Aires. He was 31.
