Golden Globes 2023: Taylor Swift, Rihanna and Lady Gaga nominated for Best Original Song

Three pop giants will face off at the 2023 Golden Globes.

Taylor Swift, Rihanna and Lady Gaga will battle it out for Best Original Song at the 2023 Golden Globes.

The nominations for the 80th Golden Globe Awards were announced on Monday, December 12. The event's award ceremony will take place in Beverly Hills on January 10, 2023.

Taylor Swift is nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Original Song with "Carolina" from "Where The Crawdads Sing."

This is Taylor Swift's fourth nomination in this category, following "Safe & Sound" from "The Hunger Games" (2012), "Sweeter Than Fiction" from "One Chance" (2013) and "Beautiful Ghosts" ” from “Cats” (2019).

Taylor Swift worked with different collaborators on each of these songs (The Civil Wars, Jack Antonoff and Andrew Lloyd Webber, respectively), but wrote "Carolina" alone.

Rihanna is nominated for a Golden Globe for the first time in her career with the song "Lift Me Up" from the movie "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever", with which she ended her long absence from recording.

The music star co-wrote the ballad, which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, alongside Ryan Coogler, who directed and co-wrote the film, Ludwig Göransson, who scored the film, and Nigerian singer Tems.

Kendrick Lamar and SZA's "All The Stars" from the first "Black Panther" movie was nominated for Best Original Song at the Golden Globes four years ago.

Lady Gaga, who won the Golden Globe for Best Original Song in 2019 with 'Shallow' from 'A Star Is Born', is up for the same award this year with 'Hold My Hand' from the movie "Top Gun: Maverick".

"Hold My Hand" performed less than expected on the charts, peaking at No. 49 on the Hot 100. Lady Gaga co-wrote the song with Bloodpop.

This is Lady Gaga's sixth career Golden Globe nomination and her third Best Original Song nomination, following "Hello Hello" from the animated film "Gnomeo & Juliet" and "Shallow ” from “A Star Is Born”.

In addition to the Golden Globe for Best Original Song for "Shallow" (2019), Lady Gaga also won the award for Best Actress in a Mini-TV Series in 2016 for her performance in "American Horror Story: Hotel."
