Australia has officially selected Go-Jo to compete in the 69th Eurovision Song Contest, set to take place in Switzerland this May. The rising star, who gained fame through TikTok, will perform his song Milkshake Man, co-written with the popular pop group Sheppard.
From TikTok to Eurovision
Go-Jo, whose real name is Marty Zambotto, shot to global fame in 2023 with his viral hit Mrs Hollywood, which amassed over 60 million streams and more than a billion views across digital platforms.
In an interview with Guardian Australia, he revealed that he initially thought his Eurovision selection was a prank.
“I was like, ‘Where’s Ashton Kutcher?’” he joked, referencing the popular prank show Punk’d.
The Story Behind Go-Jo
Raised in a remote area of Western Australia, Go-Jo grew up in a home built from recycled materials by his French father. Without electricity, running water, or telephones, he learned from an early age to embrace creativity and think outside the box.
“It was very isolated, far from the rest of the community. When I went to school, I felt like an outsider. Over the years, I learned to be comfortable with myself and realized that people appreciated that,” he shared.
The Message of Milkshake Man
With its upbeat and colorful energy, Milkshake Man carries an optimistic message, encouraging listeners to embrace their true selves.
“I want to live up to the song and just be myself—show the world that Australia is a fun place, full of beautiful cultures… and lots of scary spiders,” he quipped.
Australia will perform in the first half of the second semi-final of Eurovision 2025, scheduled for Thursday, May 15.
