Eminem's daughter now considers the experiences next to her famous father "surreal" that she thought were normal when she was young.
Hailie Jade Mathers admits she struggled to understand her father Eminem's fame.
The 27-year-old daughter of the hip-hop star and ex-wife Kim Scott explained that her experience was "very different" to that of her father's brother, her 35-year-old uncle Nate.
She noted that she was just a little girl when Eminem rose to fame in the late 1990s, though it's "fun" to reminisce now.
Hailie Jade welcomed Nate, whom she calls her 'brother-uncle' because they're relatively close in age, to her own podcast 'Just A Little Shady' and shared her memories of her father Eminem's early days of success.
"You see, that's probably why our experience was so different, because I remember some things from before, but I didn't fully understand what was going on, and you were definitely old enough to understand what was going on," he said.
"Nate is my uncle — my dad's younger brother — but we also kind of grew up together because Nate lived with us for a while when I was little," Hailie Jade continued to the audience.
“I'd say you're a brother and an uncle, you sure act like you're younger than your age. We are closer in age than you and my own father, but still I never realized how much older you are than me because I feel like you are my brother,” he added.
"It's so fun to look back now and as an adult, I think, 'Wow, this is so, so surreal.' Those memories that I thought were normal things, now I remember them and I'm like, 'Damn, that was awesome!'"
Nathan Kane, who is a music producer and actor, said he began to understand his older brother's sudden success when he started watching him on television.
"I started to understand a little bit more when reality hit and I started seeing him on TV and going to concerts and all the autographs and crazy people," he recalled.
"I was like, 'Okay, so this is real,'" added Nate, who is 14 years younger than Eminem and has the same mother as the rapper but a different father.
