Elton John believes Young Thug is the best freestyler he has ever seen, even better than his close friend Eminem.

Young Thug co-stars with Nicki Minaj in the song "Always Love You" on Elton John's upcoming album "The Lockdown Sessions".

In a recent interview with Billboard, Elton John admitted that when he was in the studio with Young Thug, he was "just amazed" and then compared the 30-year-old rapper's skills to those of Eminem.

"I've seen Marshall (Mathers) do this in Detroit, but I've never seen someone like Thug come and do that," he said.

"In the end, I had to leave because I think he felt a little scared that I was there and I just wanted him to relax. But it was just an amazing moment in my musical life. I do not know how rap songs are created and it is exciting to watch it ", commented Elton John.

The paths of Young Thug and Elton John first crossed in 2018, when Thug used "Rocket Man" as the basis for his song "High" and contacted the pop legend for permission.

"He wanted to meet me and we talked for 40 minutes," John said of their meeting, before revealing that Young Thug had asked him for advice.

After learning that the rapper used to sing in a choir, Elton John urged him: "Sing more. Don't just rap, sing more, because the mixture of rap and music and melody is what really makes rap take off ". "And it does now," he noted.

"The Lockdown Sessions" will be Elton John's 32nd album. The album, which will be released on October 22, will include collaborations with Dua Lipa, Miley Cyrus, Lil Nas X, Charle Puth, Stevie Wonder and many other artists.

"All the songs I worked on were really interesting and varied, material that is completely different from what I know, material that took me out of my comfort zone and took me to completely new lands," Elton John said of the album, which was recorded during the lockdown, when the "Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour" was postponed.
