Ed Sheeran’s next single, Azizam, is a heartfelt tribute to his wife, Cherry Seaborn.
The Shape of You singer, who shares two daughters—Lyra (4) and Jupiter (2)—with Seaborn, is preparing to release the track, which takes its name from the Persian word for “my beloved” or “my adored one.” The music video, filmed earlier this week in South London, features British comedian Omid Djalili.
A Romantic Tribute
A source told The Sun on Sunday’s Weird column:
“Ed can’t wait for people to hear his new song—especially because it’s inspired by Cherry and their love story.
A huge budget has been invested in the video, which includes a spectacular wedding and, of course, Omid.
Everyone had a great time filming and can’t wait to release it.”
While the official release date remains unannounced, reports suggest Azizam could become one of the standout hits of the summer.
On Valentine’s Day (February 14, 2025), Sheeran, 34, hinted at the upcoming single by sharing a photo of Cherry on social media, captioned with a red heart emoji and the word Azizam.
A New Era: ‘Play’ Is Coming
Earlier this month, Sheeran hinted that his next album might be titled Play.
Having previously released a series of albums named after mathematical symbols (+, x, ÷, =, and -), fans questioned whether he would continue the trend. Responding to a post by Memezar about changing his profile picture, Sheeran joked:
“The irony is that if you asked me anything related to math, I would fail because I didn’t finish high school.”
But he then teased:
“The Play is coming soon.”
This isn’t the first time Sheeran has dropped hints about Play. He previously wrote online:
“See you sometime next year, when we hit the button again. Play in pop music. Happy holidays x.”
Additionally, in an interview with Variety, he confirmed that his next album is already completed.
“I feel like I’m returning to big pop music for the first time in a long time.”
With Azizam on the horizon and Play in the works, Ed Sheeran is gearing up for an exciting new chapter in his music career.
