Ed Sheeran hints at a completed new album

Ed Sheeran has revealed details about his forthcoming album, which he has already completed.

The 33-year-old chart-topping singer has not only finished recording his eighth studio album but has also filmed two music videos for it.

In an interview with Variety, Sheeran shared that the new record marks a return to his signature stadium-filling pop sound. "It feels like I'm getting back into big pop for the first time in a long time. It's quite exciting," he said.

Fans can also expect an extensive promotional push for the album, as Sheeran noted that his last two releases had unique circumstances. His Equals album dropped during the pandemic, while his 2023 album, Subtract, was an emotionally driven project that didn’t align with the “big pop” style.

The Shape of You singer also shared that Richard Curtis directed the music video for his new track Under the Tree, a song featured in Netflix’s holiday animation That Christmas, penned by the Love Actually creator.

Reflecting on the collaboration, Sheeran said, "Having him put his stamp on me doing a Christmas song is kind of special to me." He added, "It was fun. We filmed it 10 minutes away from my house, and my mate's mum is an extra in it."
