Dua Lipa has announced a special re-release of Future Nostalgia to celebrate the fifth anniversary of her iconic album.
The new edition will feature a yellow splatter vinyl and two classic black vinyls, forming a triple LP set. It will include:
The 11 original tracks from the album
The Moonlight version with additional songs
The remix album "Club Future Nostalgia"
The reissue is set for March 28, nearly five years after the album's original release in 2020. Initially scheduled for April 3, the album was released a week earlier due to online leaks and the pandemic circumstances.
An Album That Left a Mark
Since its release, Future Nostalgia has amassed over 22 billion streams across all platforms, making it the 7th most popular album worldwide.
In an interview with NME, Dua Lipa reflected on the album’s creation process:
"I had a lot of confidence in the way I wrote the lyrics. I worked with close friends, so I wasn't afraid to be vulnerable in the studio. I knew exactly what I wanted and how to claim it."
Regarding her decision to release the album earlier than planned—while many artists postponed their projects due to the pandemic—she said:
"I'm incredibly happy that people were able to have the album. The response has been amazing, and I wouldn’t have it any other way."
An Album That Brought Optimism in Difficult Times
NME rated Future Nostalgia five stars, highlighting its impact:
"When Dua Lipa created this album, she couldn’t have imagined the state the world would be in upon its release. But that makes it all the more important as she achieved her goal: to create a bright, dynamic collection of pop tracks that make you dance, if only for a little while, away from your worries..."
Dua herself had expressed that she wanted her music to be an escape from reality:
"Music offers an outlet, and I hope these songs bring light and joy."
Dua Lipa's Viral Comment on the "Death" of Duolingo's Mascot
In other news, Dua Lipa humorously reacted to the announcement of the "death" of Duolingo’s mascot, the famous green owl.
The language-learning app jokingly announced the owl’s "death," stating: "Please respect Dua Lipa's privacy during this difficult time."
Dua responded on X/Twitter, writing: "'Til death duo part", playfully referencing the situation.
With this special vinyl reissue, Dua Lipa continues to celebrate an album that defined modern pop music and brought joy to millions worldwide.
