
The BRIT Awards 2025, supported by Mastercard, have announced Charli XCX as this year’s Songwriter of the Year winner. The avant-pop superstar, who leads the nominations with five nods, has been recognized for her exceptional lyricism and influence on contemporary music.
Charli is nominated in five major categories, the highest number this year:
- Artist of the Year
- Mastercard Album of the Year
- Song of the Year (supported by Mastercard)
- Best Dance Act
- Best Pop Act
A Prestigious Honor for Songwriting Excellence
The BRITs Songwriter of the Year Award is determined by a select panel of industry experts and honors outstanding songwriting talent. Previous winners include Ed Sheeran, Kid Harpoon, and RAYE, who took home the award in 2024.

A Decade of Influence in Avant-Pop
Over the past decade, Charli XCX has become an icon in music and the arts, reshaping the pop landscape with her boundary-pushing creativity. Her groundbreaking career has earned widespread critical acclaim, solidifying her influence on modern pop culture.
Her latest studio album, BRAT, released in June, became one of the most critically acclaimed albums of the year and topped the UK charts in October. The album’s hit single Guess, featuring Billie Eilish, reached No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart, making Charli the first British female artist to claim the top spot last year.
Additionally, her project Brat and it’s completely different but also still brat reimagined tracks from BRAT with contributions from artists like Julian Casablancas, Bon Iver, The 1975, Shygirl, Ariana Grande, and Caroline Polachek.
BRIT Awards 2025: A Night to Celebrate
The BRIT Awards 2025 will take place on Saturday, March 1, broadcast live from The O2 Arena, with comedian Jack Whitehall returning as host.
