Cardi B to cover funeral expenses of Bronx fire victims

Cardi B intends to cover the funeral expenses of the people who lost their lives in the deadly fire in a high-rise apartment building in the Bronx, New York on Sunday, January 9.

A total of 17 people lost their lives, including 8 children, in the fire that allegedly broke out due to damage to the heating system. However, it is being examined whether the poor maintenance of the building, which was a refuge for many African immigrant families, contributed to the tragedy.

Cardi B, who is from the Bronx, said in a statement: "I am extremely proud to be from the Bronx and have many relatives and friends who still live and work there. "So when I learned about the fire and the victims, I knew I had to do something to help."

"I can not imagine the pain and anguish that the families of the victims are experiencing, but I hope that if they do not have to worry about the cost of burying their loved ones, they will be able to go ahead and heal their wounds." he continued.

"I send my prayers and my condolences to all those affected by this horrific tragedy," he concluded.

"We are grateful to Cardi B, a true superstar on and off stage, who provides significant financial relief to the victims' families," New York City Mayor Eric Adams said in a statement.

"The city will forever be grateful to it, but also to the ordinary citizens who make donations and to the corporate partners who were able to offer immediate support to our fellow human beings in need, to stand on their own two feet during this difficult period," he added.

Cardi B is not the only artist from the Bronx who has taken the initiative to support those affected by the deadly fire.

Last week, Fat Joe launched a charity fund for the building's occupants, raising donations from longtime friends and associates such as JAY-Z and DJ Khaled.

"All my people around the world must unite for the families affected by the Bronx fire. I make a donation and I ask everyone who has a heart to donate. "These people are mostly immigrants who have nowhere to go, they have lost everything," he wrote.
