Cardi B briefly shared and quickly deleted a video about the U.S. election results on Tuesday night.
The *I Like It* rapper, who had publicly backed Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, took to X as Republican candidate Donald Trump began to gain an edge in several key swing states. "We need a Hail Mary," Cardi wrote, followed by a short video where she appeared to comment on Trump supporters.
“This is why some of y’all states be getting hurricanes, that’s all Imma say,” she remarked, using a face filter that exaggerated her forehead and added a goatee. Though she provided little explanation, her comment came shortly after Trump was declared the winner in the battleground state of North Carolina, along with other hurricane-prone states like Florida and Texas.
Throughout the night, the *Bodak Yellow* rapper stayed active on social media. In one Instagram Live session, she expressed admiration for Harris, saying, “No matter what happens tonight, millions are proud of her. Women around the world, and especially women of color, are proud of her.”
She later shared a video looking visibly emotional as news coverage reported Trump’s rising numbers, adding the caption, “I hate yall bad (sic).”
Cardi had recently spoken at a campaign rally for Harris in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Reflecting on the experience, she wrote on Instagram, “If you know me, you know I’m a huge history nerd, and I’ve talked about politics on my platforms for years, so this was a dream come true.”
Trump ultimately won the election on Wednesday morning, and Harris has yet to make a public statement.
