Cardi B made a surprise visit to the Middle School she attended in the Bronx, New York and made a generous donation to the school.

On Tuesday, Cardi B visited her old school, IS 232 in the Morris Heights neighborhood of the Bronx, as part of Community Capacity Development.

The 29-year-old rapper appeared in the school's hallway in a red dress, smiled and greeted students who were excited by her entrance.

After speaking words of encouragement to some of the ecstatic students and answering some of their questions, Cardi B surprised the school by announcing that she would be making a $100,000 donation.

NBC New York reporter Kay Angrum captured Cardi B's visit on video and shared it on Twitter.

"I'm extremely proud to be from the Bronx and have a lot of family and friends who still live and work here," said the hip-hop star.

"So when I heard about the fire and all the casualties, I knew I had to do something to help," he said.

In January, it was announced that Cardi B intended to cover the funeral expenses of the people who died that month in a deadly fire at a high-rise apartment building in the Bronx. A total of 17 people lost their lives, including 8 children.

"I was looking for some areas. The way prices are skyrocketing… how do people survive? I want to know,” he continued.

"My family and my friends are so grateful to have me, but the thing is, what happens to people who don't have someone like me?" the rapper wondered.

In 2019, Cardi B gave her Instagram followers a glimpse into her life before success as she looked at her school yearbook from 2006.

"At first, I called myself Bacardi, that's where I got Cardi B from," she explained while reading some of the comments her friends had left.

“Belcalis, you are so crazy and funny. Good luck, you will become something big in the future,” read one of them. Cardi B commented, "She wasn't lying."
